A case report of huge gastric diverticula with splenic fistula and secondary infection


Abstract
Diverticula of the stomach was first described by Moebius in 1936. Since then, several hundred cases have been recored in the literature, we report 1 case of huge gastric diverticula associated with splenic fistula and also secondary infection.
To the best knowledge of the authors, this is the first case of the kind ever reported in the literature in this country.
A 16 year old boy was admitted because of progressive anemia and unkown fever. The-patient showed pale, underdeveloped and poor nurished man who was 2 months duration of unkown fever and anemia, Chest X-ray revealed elevation of the left hemidiaphragm and radiolucent gas in the left hypochondral region and also Upper G-I se.ies showed huge diverticula in the left posterior aspect of stomach. The diverticula with fistulated spleen was removed surgically and fair result gained on 50 th hospital bay.
